The steps involved in training process are:-

  • Need analysis - It is very important to identify the training need and is the initial step of training process. This step identifies the gap between standard performance and actual performance of the employees. It helps in identifying what specific knowledge, skills and attitudes are required by the employees to improve their performance.
  • Objective setting - Determining the objective of training is crucial because it helps in bridging the gap between actual performance and standard performance of the employees.
  • Training methods - As per the training objectives, appropriate training method is selected to achieve the stated objective. It is also selected based on the training needs.
  • Delivering the training program - Once the training method is selected, the prepared plans and programs are implemented to achieve the desired result. This step focuses on developing the skills and knowledge of employees to exhibit better performance.
  • Evaluation - This step is carried out to identify the effectiveness of the training program. This can be done by comparing the performance of employees’ pre and post training sessions. This process also helps in identifying the trainer's performance, cost-effectiveness of training and overall effectiveness of the training program.
  • Feedback - Feedback is taken to identify the gaps in the training program which can be improved in the future.
