Describe and name the arterial and venous coronary circulation of the heart

Solutions

Expert Solution

The heart blood is supplied by the coronary artery circulation and it includes mainly the

  1. Right coronary artery
  2. Left coronary artery

The left as well as the right coronary artery are called the coronary because they encircle the base of the ventricles like a crown .

THE RIGHT CORONARY ARTERY

It arises from the right aortic sinus and descend between the right ventricle and auricle. Then the right coronary passes towards the inferior border of the heart where the marginal branch from the right coronary arises .

When the right coronary artery enter the posterior interventricular groves of our heart it gives the largest branch of it that is the posterior interventricular branch

The right coronary artery gives off many branches like the atrial branch, nodal artery to the SA node , ventricular branch are also supplied by them

THE LEFT CORONARY ARTERY

It arises from the left aortic sinus of our aorta and passes between the pulmonary trunk as well as the left auricle.b

The LEFT CORONARY ARTERY has 2 branches that is the circumflex branch and the largest branch that is the anterior interventricular branch.

It supplies both the ventricles as well as the interventricular septum.

The trunk of the left coronary artery is smaller than the right coronary artery but the left coronary Carrey more blood as it supplies more part of myocardium .

THE VENOUS DRAINAGE

The wall in the heart of our body is drained by the veins in our body that will drain into the coronary sinus.

The main veins are the

Coronary sinus that is the specific and largest vein of our heart and is situated in the posterior part of the coronary sulcus.

It opens into the right atrium .

Other veins are

  • The great cardiac vein
  • The middle cardiac vein
  • The marginal vein
  • The small cardiac vein

All these drain into the coronary vein and finally into the right atrium.
