How is it related to the Equal pay issues in the work place?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Comparable worth is related to equal pay for both men and women and it has a big role to play in the hiring process. The companies usually consider women as less productive and offer a low pay compared to men. This is wrong and both men and women should be considered equally when they possess the same set of skills at the same level. The Hiring process involves the discussion on the salary and the HR department will take the decision with the consent of the hiring manager. The mentality of the HR team and the hiring manager plays an important role in comparable worth. When the company realizes that both a male and female candidate possess the same skillset then they should not discriminate based on sex, religion, caste, or age. If this happens the comparable worth will happen and equal importance will be given to all.

As discussed earlier, the company can discriminate the applicants based on the gender and the company might have a biased mindset towards it. They might prefer hiring people of a specific gender for a specific role thinking they will be more effective. The pay provided to these people will change and some of the employees might question the approach of the employer. When they know that they are paid differently even when they have the same skillset it can have a negative impact on the mindset of the employees. They will go against it or they lose interest in the job they are doing. So comparable worth is very important if the company wants to provide a good work environment that treats everyone equally.
