Please compose an essay comparing shod and unshod walking and running gait. Please consider the following points to guide your response:
- The effect of cushioning and other footwear features on kinematics and kinetics
- Implications of footwear to improve safety and comfort in certain populations (ie the elderly, children, runners)
Running is another locomotor activity that is similar to walking , but certao difference is there. In case of stair gait, patient who is able to walk on levelbif ground may not have ability to run. Running require great balance , muscles strength and range if motuonthan dies normal walking.
Greater balance is required in running as there is narrow of base of support. Double support period in running is negligible in comparison to the walking. the percentage of gait cycle spent in float periods more in running than in walking.
In running , the metatarsal bear disproportionate share of the weight.. so cushioning at metatarsal help in distribution of pressure throughout the foot , don't allow the pressure to accumulate below metatarsal.
With advancing age there is more soft tissue stiffness, loss of grip in foot, more pronated bodily structure .. so foot wear provide are balancing support to elderly people.
