The dietary factors like total energy intake, protein, carbohydrates, fibre, fats, alcohol, calcium, iron and cholesterol impact health of an individual. One should take a balanced diet comprising of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, minerals, vitamins and fibres on regular basis. Any changes in the balance of these dietary factors affects the health in long run. Total energy intake is the important criteria for proper development and to keep the body healthy. Suppose if we take excess carbohydrates then it leads to diabetes, increased risk of heart disease, weight gain, poor metabolism. Excess protein in diet leads to weight gain and puts extra load on kidney on the other hand less protein in diet causes poor muscle development and growth. Proteins are building blocks of life. All the body structure contains proteins hence protein should always be included in the diet in required amount. Lack of calcium in diet leads to poor development of bones and teeth and can cause muscle spasms, etc. Calcium along with Vitamin D3 is important ingredient for healthy bone formation and development. Vitamin D3 is required in body for the absorption of calcium. Body requires healthy fat but too much of saturated fat is bad for the body as it leads to high levels of low density lipoproteins. Due to this cholesterol builds up in body which block blood vessels and causes stroke and heart diseases.
