How to assess thyroid disorders medically and nutritionally? (please write in details)
Medically thyroid disorders are assessed by blood tests.Blood test can be done to measure and evaluate the levels of thyroid hormone and TSH.TSH is a chemical released by the pituitary gland .It willl trigger the thyroid.Mainly there are two disorders affecting the trhyroid, hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism.
Thyroid Function test is the test that will tells how the thyroid gland is working.Thyroid function test is a series of test includes T3,T4,T3RU and TSH.The first initial test we can do for knowing thyroid dysfunction is TSH.
Normal range of TSH is 0.4 -4.0 milliinternational units per litre.A range above normal indicates thyroid is underactive and we have hypothyroidism. If the range is below normal range it indicates hyperthyroidism.
Thyroid gland produces two hormones T3 and t4 T3 test is used to diagnose hyperthyroidism. If T3 level is high ,it indicates hyperthyroidism.Normal range is in between 4.6 to 11.2mcg/dl
T4 is the main form of thyroid which circulates in the blood.Normal range is 0.8 -1.8 nanograms per decilitre.
T3 RU is test to estimate the thyroxine binding protein in blood. Also we can estimate how much the amount of free T3 and T4 in the blood is free.
