D.

The nasal conchae are bones that from the nasal septum.

E.

The external acoustic meatus is a canal in the temporal bone

Solutions

Expert Solution

  • The following statements are correct about the skull bones-
  • The mastoid process is the prominent lump which is present posterior to the ear and not anterior. Hence, the given statement A is wrong.
  • The mastoid process is present in the temporal bone of the skull and situated behind the external acoustic meatus .
  • The zygomatic arch consists of the joined processes between the maxilla and zygomatic bone. It is joined anteriorly with the zygomatic process of maxilla and posteriorly with the zygomatic process of the temporal bone. It does not articulates with the frontal bone.Hence, the option B is wrong.
  • The nasal septum is formed by the two parts 1) Bony part 2) Cartilaginous part.
  • The bony part of the nasal septum is consists of the perpendicular plate of the ethmoid bone and the vomer bone.
  • The cartilaginous portion of the nasal cartilage consists of the septal cartilage.
  • So, nasal septum is not formed by the nasal conchae only though it is present in the nose. Hence , option D is also wrong.
  • Option E is right. External accoustic meatus is a canal which is present in the temporal bone anterior to the mastoid process.
  • Hence, only option E is right and remaining all the options are wrong.
