How might prescribing medications for depression be improved in the future to increase the likelihood that a drug would work and minimize side effects?
The mental health issue of depression has been increasing day by day. Individuals find it convenient to get treatment through various forms of medications and psychotherapy. Many research and current status show that depressed clients having problems with the medication given to treat depression. They are complaining about the increased side effects and reduced effectiveness.
For future context, the effectiveness of the medication can be increased which means it will ensure that these drugs would work and minimize the side effects.Firstly, Psychiatrists and pharmaceutical companies are working on the compositions of these drugs and making them in reduced diseases. Currently, high doses are being prescribed which ultimately do more harm than providing benefits. Secondly, the SSRI will be promoted more as they have better results than other forms of anti-depressants. SSRI side effects have been very mild and doctors are researching how to make these side effects negligible by conducting human trials. Thirdly, individualized treatment or medication might be a new development. It has been noticed that humans differ in brain chemistry and maturation. These phenomena of varieties in brain make their depression and neurotransmitter activity different. These differences can be combated when specialized and individualized treatment is provided. Individualized treatment will be suitable according to the biology of human beings and thus will ensure a reduction in side effects.
