There are Various mechanism that leads to the generation of the variations such as the crossing over that occurs in the pachytene stage of the meiosis 1 leads to the exchange of the genetic material between two parent chromosomes that is between two homologous chromosomes. Crossing over leads to the formation of the new sets of genes which appears as variations in the new generations. The mutations are also responsible for the generation of variations in the characters. They are various types of mutations such as point mutations that is variations in the single nucleotide due to alteration of DNA , frame shift mutation When the whole sequence of DNA codons Triplets is altered , chromosomal abberations , deletion , addition . This leads to the variations . Variations plays an important role to adapt the oragnisms go to survive in the changing environment . According to the Darwin theory of natural selection , nature selects the best character or trait that increase the progeny production capacity of the organisms. . These variations are responsible for the adaptions . The variations accumulated over many generations leads to the evolution of new species .

Even in the absence of genetic recombination, meiosis is an important source of genetic variation in sexually reproducing organisms. Use as an example a species with 2n=8, and an individual of that species that is a quadruple heterozygote for loci A, B, C, and D, with each loci on a different chromosome. Determine how many different types of gametes this individual can produce, and explain how segregation and independent assortment mechanisms produce genetic variation in the gametes produced by this...

Describe the four evolutionary mechanisms that alter the frequencies of existing genetic variation in natural populations. You need to define each mechanism and describe at least one example of its action in natural populations (e.g., genetic drift in overhunted populations resulting in less genetic diversity).
