Campare between Chartes Spearman theory and Robert Sternberg (Triarchie theory) of intelligence
Charles Spearman theory of intelligence states that intellectual abilities comprises two factors which are
1)General ability- It is known as g factor. It is the inborn ability which is constant and leads to success in life.
2)Specific abilities-It is known as s factor. These are abilities which are learned in the environment. It varies from activity to activity.
Whereas Sternberg's triarchic theory of intelligence states that there are three kinds of intelligence.
1)Analytical intelligence-This is the intelligence for academic abilities and success such as problem solving skills. It enables a person to encode information, combine pieces of information to reach/find a solution. It helps in acquisition of knowledge.
2)Practical intelligence-It involves ability to meet the daily demands of the society or dealing with daily life problems so that one can sustain.
3)Creative intelligence-The ability to come up with novel solutions in every situation or problem. It makes one adaptaable to solve problems more rapidly with experience.
Sternberg argued that general intelligence is a part of analytical intelligence.Whereas Spearman made general intelligence altogether a different factor.Rather he believed that all tests can be divided into genera and specific intelligence.
