Robert Sternberg and Howard Gardner argued that, as a society, we need to expand our measure of intelligence beyond traditional tests. Describe the way each explains intelligence. Then explain how ideas presented by Sternberg and Gardner have changed school environments. Please include two sources
Howard gardener thought that there were several kinds of intelligence and not just one kind of intelligence. The theory of multiple intelligence identifies eight types of intelligence:
1. Logical–mathematical: Arithmetic, calculations
2. Linguistic: Verbal and written language
3. Spatial: Visualization, navigation
4. Musical: Identifying rhythms, sounds
5. Bodily-kinesthetic: Body movements coordination
6. Interpersonal: Understanding and relating to others
7. Intrapersonal: Understanding ones own self
8. Nature: Connection and understanding nature
The triarchic theory of intelligence: This theory by robert sternberg, talks about three aspects of intelligence.
Componential intelligence - The analytic form of intelligence measured by intelligence tests.
Experiential intelligence: The ability to apply the experience to problems.
Contextual intelligence: To deal effectively with real and practical situations.
