The problem of many developing businesses has always been
attributed to insufficient or lack
of capital to run these enterprises. But on taking an MBA course at
the University of Ghana
Business School, you have come to realize that most businesses in
Ghana and Africa fail not
because of capital adequacy issues but rather, human resources
management issues. What
significant expectations would you give to all HR managers as
needed competences to be
equipped with if you are the consultant general to businesses in
Ghana?
Ghana is not so developed in technology. The country is comparatively poor. The main cause of failure of business in Ghana is the labor problem. The Human Resource Development of Ghana has not been able to prepare skilled workers.
In the school level there is no system of vocational education. People fail to take training in technology as there is lack of vocational training schools and engineering college. Again, there is also lack of trainer to impart advanced training to the students. Besides, people are poor and they can not provide basic education to the children. They are not aware of the modern system of technology.
Naturally it is difficult for the companies to bring skilled labors from the other states as it is very costly. There is no shortage of raw material. Capital is also ready. But there are lack of developed and advanced human resources that cause main problem in the expansion of the industry in Ghana.
