The collapse of communism and the end of the Cold War has often been attributed to the more aggressive stance of Ronald Reagan towards the Soviet Union and his escalation of the arms race in the 1980s. Philipp Ther offers a very different story in his book. What reasons does he offer for why communism collapsed so quickly in the Eastern Bloc in the period of 1989-91? What explanations does he offer to why these monumental changes happened relatively peacefully? Be careful in thinking about the timeline of events in the period when formulating your answer.
Ronald Reagan aggressive policy regarding arms race as well as diplomacy in the influence of capitalism was affect communist countries and change their mind set to accept capitalism and optout from communism. Regans national security decision directive was diplomacy or new Policy towards ussr which includes:
1) decrease ussr access to high technology
2) diminishing their resources by falling them in arms race and ussr disintegration.
3) to make negative publicity of usssr good and service in the global market.
Ther view in his book" Europe since 1989" , he desecribe usssr disintegration vand fall of communism as well as cold War was socio-economic weakness of ussr to counter usa or regan policy.
As poverty ,inequality increase in this region as well as usssr become economically weaker due to arms races and less expenditure on welfare programs. Ussr also become handicapped as communism was fafailednd country like china India bised towards capitalism as they want transform by using LpG reform and make whole world globalised to gain advantage from world Trade, but ussr still following useless communism Policy.
As ussr was weak economically ,politically as well socially and situation of that time was demanding capitalism or LPG reform in the world Economy, that's why ussr disintegration happen easily and country of East Europe chooses capitalism or market economy as their path of development. Thus all of this happen peacfull without very less arms conflict or peacefully.
