Male urogenital tract
Male urogenital tract consist of urinary and genital organs together. It comprises of of testes, epididymis, vas deferens, ejaculatory ducts, urethra, penis, prostate gland and seminal vesicles ,bulbourethral gland.
Testes is the organ enclosed in the scrotumm and hanging structure. It helps in production of sperm .Within the testes , lobule like structure seminiferous tubules which opens into the rete testis channels. The sperms moves through rete testes to the epididymis. Two main cells present in testes -leyding and sertoli cells .Leydig cells produces the sex hormone called as testosterone and sertoli cells provide nutrition to the sperm.
Epididymis is the coild tube like structure ,having three segments -head,neck and tail portion covered with connective tissues .Sperms moves through them via vas deferens.Vas deferens is the tube shaped muscular structure ,transports the sperm to the ejaculatory duct. The ejaculatory ducts, one from the vas deferens and another from the accessory gland seminal vesicle combindly travels through the prostate gland and releases into the urethra. Urethra originates from the urinary bladder and opens in peniss externally , the sperm and urine passes through them. The peniss is the muscular structure, contains root portion and body contains three cylindrical masses of erectile tissues -opens into the urethra.Bulbourethral gland secretion helps in lubrication of the head of peniss results during erection and sperm discharge.
Trip of sperm cells to the female genital tract
Sperm ----epididymis ------vas deferens ---ejaculatory duct ----prostate gland -----seminal vesicle ---------urethra ----tip of peniss --------enters into female genitals vaginaa -----cervical canal ---------fallopian tube .
sperm cell travels up to the female genital tract to meet with the secondary oocyte and the structure that encounters is Ampulla part of the fallopian tube.
