In the differences between the male versus female urinary tract. EXPLAIN anatomically why one sex has a higher risk of lower urinary tract inflammation or infections. In your explanation, compare the male versus female lower urinary tract including length, locations & nearby organs that might contribute to inflammation or infection?
Yes female have higher risk for urinary tract infection
The opening for the entery of microorganisms is the urethra . Yes it is the only opening for microganism to enter into the urinary tract and infect it .
Female urethra has less length to reach the urinary bladder that is 3-4cm length. This is easier for the microganism to enter and move into the urinary system while in case if male urethra it is 4 time larger that is 18-21 cm in length . So female individual are having 5time higher risk of causing urinary tract infections.
The male urethra is not having any other infectious region near it where microbe's is present but in case of female they have the recum and anal region posterior to the urethra opening. This opening is so close to the urethral region which is prone for causing infection. So improper hygiene maintaince in case after defecation can lead to infection. Anterior to it is the va gina that is a major spot for causing infection as in case if sexual activity Risk of microbe entering the urethra are high .
So when comparing to all these factors it is evident that female are more prone to infection of urinary tract
