When we collect information for research purposes, we collect raw data. This data is great, but doesn't always end up meaning a whole lot until we draw some conclusions, organize it and look for patterns. When we organize it a bit, it then becomes what we can consider information. Information is a lot more useful than raw data.

Do any of you collect data at work? How can you best take raw data and ensure that it becomes useful information?
There is no doubt in the fact that data is the most important asset about and organization and as business has had a huge transformation in their way of working, data has become very much important gradually and organizations have started using data for various measures. I believe that in order to understand data and analyze the data there are three processes that are used because data initially is available in the raw form and deciphering any information from such data is next to impossible, hence the three processes needs to be applied and they are extracting the data, transforming the data to the form required and loading the data to the respective location. This is the best way by which raw data can be converted or transformed into useful information that will help the individuals understand what this data is all about.
I actually work with a lot of data in my organization as I am a data analyst in which my role is to understand the data analyze it and decipher useful information from it and using it again to benefit the organization by proposing new ways or techniques. So my job is to extract data from all the sources that are available and using functions and logics the data is transformed according to our requirement and then it is loaded to a respective database or file. The transformation logics used actually helps in understanding what these information's can actually do to make the organization benefit.
