XYZ corporation has a very formal and hierarchical culture. There is little informal interaction between different divisions of the organization. The relationship is primarily focused on formal business interactions. The senior management of XYZ encourages this approach, who prefer the formal and hierarchical arrangement, viewing it as more “professional” and that it supports the organization’s core objectives.
A. Identify the issues that are present in this scenario and its impact on the organization.
B. Set out your proposal in addressing these concerns.
A. The issues present in the given scenario lack focus on providing employee satisfaction and considering their interest. The company is focusing only on the employees' formal interactions with each other, and there is only a little scope of informal communication
The employee need to interact with each other and socialize to avoid mental stress because of their work. Here, the employees are not socializing or connecting with other coworkers for promoting similar interests.
It can negatively impact on the employees.
If the organization is not focusing on the employees' interest, the productivity and efficiency of the employees will start decreasing, and the employees will become reluctant to their work as they are not getting any personal satisfaction that comes through informal relation and socializing.
It will also increase employee turnover and absenteeism. The employees will not be able to develop a sense of belongingness with the organization.
B. my proposal in addressing these concerns would be to let employees interact with each other and their coworkers informally. The organization should also make up informal and unorganized clubs to promote the interest of its employees and to obtain personal satisfaction and creating a sense of trust and belongingness with the organization.
