Urinary bladder is the main organ for urination . The main function of the urinary bladder is to store and excrete urine
The adaptations of the urinaru bladder are mainly three types. These adaptations are to facilitate it's function
These 3 adaptations are
i) Adaptations in transitional epithelium : transitional epithelium is also called as urothelium which is the epithelial lining of urinary bladder . It has multiple layer of cells which cause change of shape of the urinary bladder. This epithelium causes contraction and relaxation of the bladder which adapts in storing and release of urine
ii) Adaptations in lamina propria : It contains large number of elastic fibres and loose connective tissue mainly adapted for stretching of the urinary bladder when bladder gets full
iii) Adaptations in rugae: Inner surface of urinary bladder has numerous mucous folds called rugae .which is mainly adapted to increase surface area and expands the urinary bladder
