Fixed mindset refers to people believing in their present intelligence by thinking that their intelligence and personality traits are fixed and cannot be changed. This would reflect in all the efforts they take and everywhere they go thus limiting them from functioning to their fullest potential as they wouldn’t believe that people could change and make them better. This would mean that they wouldn’t set high standards for themselves in terms of educational goals every time but would stick with a constant goal. They would also believe that they wouldn’t change themselves thus wouldn’t work on the negative feedback that they receive.
Growth mindset refers to people believing that they could change their attitudes, personality and ability at anytime thus would be able to improve their performance. This would mean that they would look for all the opportunities to improve their academic goals by working on their negative feedback because they are more positive. This would mean that they believe in the fact that every time when they do the same thing, they could improve without worrying about whether that improvement is incrementally big or small. They would believe that there is still room for growth.
