Suggest some ways that societal attitudes and beliefs about gender roles or use of violence held by individuals, communities, and/or societies can affect the level of violence against the family (spousal, child and elder abuse).
For many years in the history men are considered to be courageous, aggressive, protective, and provider of the family making them undeniable and unquestionable rights at home and in the society, which would depend on the role they play in the society. Women on the other hand, are expected to be submissive, subordinate, soft, kind and caring which left them controlled by men in all forms such as, father, husband and sons. Thus, domestic violence and abuse are the results of this type of thinking which makes people dominate women and make them suffer in the hands of men which they think is their right. Men think of them as the head of the family and treat others in the family both the spouse and the children to be their properties thus, treat them at their will. Although this is a common scenario with all the men across societies, men who are drunk and those belong to the collective and patriarchal societies engage in domestic violence more than the individualistic cultures.
