  • The gender stereotypes which determine specific behaviours and roles of men and women to perform have been inculcated in us from our family, teachers, peers, colleagues etc.We all have been brought up in highly patriarchal world, determining defined roles of men and women.
  • But,these gender stereotypes have been determined by our society at large, which have been influenced by our ancestors. In our evolutionary history, men have always been the ones who went outside the house to hunt animals and get food, and women stayed back home to take care of children. These unsaid traditional roles have been carried forward, into our society, making it largely patriarchal.
  • In earlier centuries, women also faced many atrocities and were treated as mere sexual objects for men, leading to their inferior status, while men having the upper hand. All this has contributed to the emergence of gender stereotyping in today's time.
  • There is no specific person who determines gender stereotypes, but these have been created by us,since we are a part of the society, following our ancestors and defining roles of each gender.
