What is the goal of Cluster-on-demand?
if there are goals, Why?
COD is a cluster-site manager in the NICL laboratory of the Duke Computer Science for the Open Resource Management Architecture (Orca) project. The availability of low-cost computers is an efficient way of achieving reliable , scalable computing resources for network services and computational applications. Given the high initial ownership costs of clusters, including space, power conditioning and cooling systems, leasing or share access to a common cluster is an attractive option when demands differ over time. Shared clusters provide size savings and more efficient use of resources by multiplexing. Users of a shared clusters should be able to choose the most compatible software environments.
Goals of COD:
COD system enables rapid and automated dynamic partitioning of the physical clusters into the multiple independent virtual clusters. They allots the nodes to the users as per their need and resource availability.
