Answer (1) Exxon Valdez :- This whole incident is related to a Oil spill case in Prince sound william, Alaska on 24 March 1989. The tanker was associated to the company name Exxon shipping company.In this whole incident over 37000 mettric tone of oil to be spill over the vast coastline.This incident is considered to be the result of Man made errors.This Oil spill event is considered to be one of the most hazardous event whicha cause a severe damage to environment.

This whole event cause a harm to the Sea habitat very severely.This Oil soill results in the The death of 2.5 lakh seabirds, More than 2500 sea otters, 240 bald eagles, More than 10 orcas and many more. It also poses a threat to persons living alongside this whole coastline

This accident forced the company to face several cases in the courts.They are being ordered to pay a hefty amount of money for the damage which is done to environment surroundings.The company payed around 2 billion dollars for Cleaning the Oil spilled and 1 billion dollars for the settlement. Later the court ordered them to pay around 5 billion dollars more as punitive charges which they denied to pay and they appealed in the higher court to cut down the Punitive charges amount.

After few rounds of appeal in various courts the punitive charge was fixed around 507 million dollar which the company paid in the year 2009
