In VirtualBox, how do you designate the CentOS Installation ISO file as a start-up disk
CentOS Installation ISO file as a Startup Disk
Step 1: Open Virtual Box and Click on the New button to create a Virtual Machine
Step 2: Enter the name (example CentOS 7) select Type as Linux and version as Red Hat(64 bit) since CentOS is a clone of Red Hat and uses a similar architecture
Step 3: Select Memory size which is the amount of RAM to be allocated to the virtual machine in megabytes (example 1024 MB). Then click on Next
Step 4: You can then add a hard disk to the virtual machine. You can either create a new virtual hard disk or select an existing one from the list or from any other location using the folder icon. Select Create a new virtual hard disk then click on Next button.
Step 5: Next choose the type of file you would like to create for the virtual hard disk. Three options are available, you can choose any type. For this assignment we will select VDI file type and click on next.
Step 6: Next select whether the virtual hard disk allocated should grow as it used or a maximum fixed size should be allocated. Select Dynamically allocated. Then click on next.
Step 7: Next enter the file name, location of the virtual hard disk. Also set a limit of on the amount of file data that the virtual machine will be able to store on the hard disk (example: 8 GB) then click on Create
Step 8: Next Right click on the newly created virtual machine select Start -> Normal Start. Now select the ISO image file of the startup disk from the hard disk by clicking on the folder icon . Finally click on Start to begin the installation
