Why is trust important in a project? How can lack of trust affect the project, team, and stakeholders? How can a project manager establish trust among the project team and stakeholders? Illustrate with an example (either hypothetical or real). Please if citations can be provided I will greatly appreciate it.
Ans:- Trust is very important in a project because to complete a project collaboration of various stakeholders is required. The various stakeholders in a project are project manager, engineers, workers, suppliers, dealer etc.
Therefore trust in every stakeholder to play their part is important for successful completion of a project. The lack of trust leads to lack of ownership of work and hence it affects the project.
The project manager can establish trust among the project team and stakeholders by following means:-
a). Explaining role of each stakeholder in project is important to develop trust and accountability in the stakeholders.
b). Time management is an important part in any project completion. To keep the project schedule on time trust in every stakeholder is required.
c). By training and educating the team involved in project, project manager can develop trust among team members.
d). By explaining the impact of successful project completion on carrier of different stakeholders is also required to keep their focus on project.
For ex:- Let us take an example of completion of flyover in a city. In this project various stakeholders are involved like Project manager, engineer, workers, supplier of materials and administrative authorities. To complete this project, it is imporatnt to keep every stakeholder in confidence. The workers should do their job with efficiency, the suppliers should provide raw material on time, enginner should provide the feedwork on regular basis. So having trust in every stakeholder is important in successful completion of project.
