I always wished to major in psychology. It was an interest developed after watching a few documentaries on mental illness. However, once I committed to do my majors in psychology, a few friends and extended family brought forth the cons of majoring in psychology. I was told that the job that I would land up with eventually. after my degree would be very stressful and would likely take away my peace of mind which they thought I was not ready for. These feedbacks led to me being doubtful about myself and the decision I made. However, I chose to stick with my decision and started going for the classes regularly. Perhaps not as much in the beginning, however, over time I developed a keen interest in the subject. Eventually we were taken to visit the mental health care center in our city and it made me make my mind even more firm. It was stressful, I was not sure about being able to see others go through pain, however, the joy in being able to help a fellow human being get over their mental illness, is another level. It made me ecstatic and I began to love the subject even more so. I continued to pursue my majors in psychology.
