Solutions

Expert Solution

1. Loose connective tissue-

Under loose connective tissue, there are 3 types of tissues- aerolar, reticular and adipose.

Aerolar tissue is found under the epithelium of skin and in capillaries. Cells present are fibroblast with some macrophages and WBC. Collagen and elastin protein are present.

Reticular tissue- found in spleen, lymph nodes and bone marrow. The cells present are fibroblast with some WBC. The reticular fibres are present as protein. Ground substance is jelly like.

Adipose tissue- found under the skin, between organs and muscles. Has abundant fat containing adipocytes. The fibres are collagen and reticular in nature. The ground substance is very less.

2. Dense connective tissue- in dense connective tissue, the fibres are densely arranged. They are of two types- regular and irregular.

Regular dense connective tissue- found in tendons and ligaments. Thick collagen fibres are arranged in parallel rows in regular pattern. Fibroblast are the main cells.

Irregular connective tissue- found in capsules of the joint and in dermis of skin. The collagen fibres are irregularly present.

Draw, at high power, a section of loose (areolar) connective tissue, adipose tissue and hyaline cartilage. For areolar CT, label the extracellular fibers (collagen, elastic, and reticular fibers), and some living cells (you will most likely see fibroblasts and possibly adipocytes). For adipose tissue, label the cytoplasm with nucleus and the fat-storage area. For hyaline cartilage, be able to label the chondrocytes and matrix.
