Solutions

Expert Solution

1. Loose connective tissue in dermis of skin provide protection against the external environment. This tissue is very hard and tough in order to provide protection. The matrix is composed of collagen fibres, elastin fibre, hyaluronan and proteoglycans.

2 . Adipose connective tissue are special type of tissues composed of adipocytes cells (fat cells) and are present in various locations of body like skin, liver and other viscera. The matrix is made up of of plenty of adipose cells and few fibroblasts. Fat provide Cushning effect to body and also provide energy whenever needed.

3. Blood is a special connective tissue which is liquid in nature. Blood is present in all parts of body. The matrix of blood consist of RBC, WBC platelets, plasma proteins, waste materials. Blood performes function of transportation of oxygen, carbon dioxide, water, nutrients, waste etc to different parts of body.

4. Cartilage is a type of specialized connective tissue. It is present in many parts of body for example trachea, ribs , ear etc. Matrix is composed of collagen (type 2), elastin fibre, ground substance. Special feature of matrix is presence of chondrocytes.

5. Bone is also a special type of connective tissue. Bones are very hard and make the whole framework of our body(skeleton). Matrix is composed of collage fibres, osteoblast cells, osteoclast cells and salts of calcium and phosphates.

Draw, at high power, a section of loose (areolar) connective tissue, adipose tissue and hyaline cartilage. For areolar CT, label the extracellular fibers (collagen, elastic, and reticular fibers), and some living cells (you will most likely see fibroblasts and possibly adipocytes). For adipose tissue, label the cytoplasm with nucleus and the fat-storage area. For hyaline cartilage, be able to label the chondrocytes and matrix.
