Differentiate between pair work and group work. How can a teacher monitor input and performance of each participant or pair work and group work ?

Grouping is an excellent means in teaching which enable the learners to share their ideas,modify and rectify the attempted solutions.It enhances peer learning an effective method in learning process.It helps the learner to cooperate with others in group .To an extent it enables to control negative emotions such as anger and boosts the confidence of individual members.

Pair work is working   group formed only of a pair of students.Tasks will be shared among them and solution will as one group.Members in pair work group gets more time and clarity in interaction.Individual attention and involvement is more in pair work.

Group work is the working group formed by more than two students.the main advantage of group work is that besides confidence it helps to build many skills like leadership quality,cooperative mentality,critical thinking etc.They members will develop unity feeling to solve problems.Planning and organizational skills get more benefited through Group work.

Monitoring pair or group work enable the teacher as an effective tool of evaluation.While giving or distributing the task itself the teacher should give clear instructions regarding the activity and time limit.The teacher can observe individual students very clearly in pair group.Each members contribution can be monitored by guiding the group members to break and distribute th work uniformly.
