Notice the “power position” for each dimension. From a social perspective, are you in the dominant or subordinate position?
I don't get this question at all. I need an example of ones' answer so I could answer it based on myself.
As John French and Bertram Raven introduced the following forms of power:
· Coercive Power
· Reward Power
· Legitimate Power
· Referent Power
· Expert Power
One of the central characteristics of power is to allow individuals who are in positions of power to pursue and attain goals which are related to their own rewards. Wherein, powerless individuals tend to adjust themselves to others more than powerful individuals do.
Dominant power position:
Dominance involves using power, coercion and intimidation against people who are comparatively weaker. It is the disposition of power of an individual to assert control in dealing with others. It can also be characterized by an individual, situational and relationship patterns in which one attempts to control and dominate another individual or party, in which parties may or may not be accepting it.
Subordinate power position:
When a company exerts upward power, it is the subordinates who influence the decisions of their leader or leaders. Subordinates acknowledge the legitimate power that comes from being in a leadership position in an organization. A subordinate feels a positive attraction towards a leader by identifying himself with the leader. In certain situations, It is where compliance is needed and is probably the outcome when subordinate is willing to accept the power.
