Extraction flowchart:
Starting material: isopentyl acetate

1. Wash with deionized water
2. Wash with 5% aqueous sodium bicarbonate solution
3. Dry liquid water with sodium sulfate

Solutions

Expert Solution

Synthesize, and purify, isopentyl acetate from isopentyl alcohol and acetic acid.

Procedure flowchart:

1)isopentyl alcohol + acetic acid + Sulfuric Acid

2)Place the aqueous phase in conical vial

3)Add 10 mL of distilled water; stopper the funnel and mix,

Allow the layers to separate and un stopper the funnel.

4)Drain the lower aqueous layer into a beaker

5)Extract the organic layer with 5 mL of 5% sodium bicarbonate

6)Again drain the lower aqueous layer

7)Extract the organic layer with another 5 % sodium bicarbonate and drain the lower aqueous layer

8) Transfer the crude ester to a clean, dry 50 mL flask and add approximately 1.0 gram of anhydrous sodium sulfate. Mix.

9) dry for 10 minutes

Guaifenesin Extraction Okay, during the extraction of Guaifenesin. We added 5-mL of ethyl acetate to the crushed Guaifenesin and I knew it was added to solubilize that Guiafenesin For the next 10 minutes if it was stirred then it was filtered. The next step confused me. We added 10 mL of hexanes to the filtrate. The question is what was the reason for addition of hexanes to the filtrate? Thanks

the environmental aspects of a salmon hatchery. Raw material extraction: Use of natural resources Objective 1: Reduce water usage during the process of harvesting salmon and collecting eggs and sperm. Water is used throughout the hatchery facility during the egg harvesting and incubation process, which uses a constant flow of water to mimic a stream environment (PWSAC 2020). To avoid depleting the water supply from a nearby reservoir and affecting the natural environment, the facility will follow procedures to maximize...
