What is air pollution? What are some causes of it? What are some health consequences? What can be done to decrease it?
Air pollution: the normal composition of clean air is 78%
nitrogen , 20 % oxygen , 0.934% organ 0.03% C02, 0.0002%
methane 0.00005% Hydrogen any deviation in this composition results
in air pollution therefore it can be defined as the presence of any
solid , liquid and gases substances or several other substances in
the external atmosphere in such a concentration that it casuses
harm to human beings other living creature humanasstas and
environment .
Causes:- Industries (fertilzer, cement) .,petrol refineries ,
automobile, aircrafts , carbon monoxide, carbon
dioxide,flourocarbon ,flyash etc.
Harmful effects: Air pollution can cause problem with respiratory
system , it causes asthma, bronchitis etc.
Carbon monoxide having 200 time stronger affinity to haemoglobin as
compared to oxygen and it combine with haemoglobin to form
carboxyhaemoglobin which reduces the oxygen carrying capacity of
the blood it also causes headeche and suffocation, sulphur dioxide
can cause eye irritation , damage to respiratory tract (cystic
fibrosis) .
Control: use of electrostatic precipitators for removing the
particulate matter (approximately 99% ) .
Proper maintainance of automobile along with the use of petrol and
diesel can reduce the amount of pollutants they emits.
use of catalytic convertors are fitted into automobiles for
controlling the emissions of poisonous gases.
use grow more and more trees.
