How do you create the dot plot?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Dot Plot: It is a statistical chart used for small data sets (Discrete values) .

For creating a Dot Plot by hand ,you should follow these steps :

  1. Draw the actual plot on the paper : it should be long enough to hold all your data (horizontal or vertical) .
  2. Now, you should label your plot you drew below the line .It can be labeled with words or numbers depending on the data.
  3. After labeling the plot ,draw the data onto the plot according to their frequencies .

Now, we are looking for creating a dot plot using Microsoft Excel;

  1. Firstly, we have to enter our data in the cells .
  2. After entering data use "=COUNTIF(cell range)" function for getting frequencies of each entered values.
  3. Now just drag the cursor up to down after getting frequency of a value
  4. Further, select all the cells of values and frequencies
  5. Then, go to insert tab and select 'dot plot chart' option.
  6. Thus, we've created dot plot chart .
