Why do media, individuals, and books have such a strong influence on the public agenda?

Media, individuals, and books directly influence and shape public or people thought process. They affect not only people's daily life but also politics because people are able to interact through media means and these people with the help of technology. Even people can comment online through these technological means to express their views. Also,whatever is written in books, people take them as reality. This is the reason that media, individuals, and books have such a strong influence on the public agenda.

Do they have the same influence on the formal agenda?  Why or why not?

No, they don not have same influence on the formal agenda because a formal agenda is used to identify the fixed actions and reserved matters of discussion that are needed to be executed and talked about in a regular political meeting or any corporate and business gathering.
