In what ways do the media influence perception?

Media influences perception to larger extent as many a time we are not witnessing that current sitation and hence whatever media shows us, tells in the back ground make us think. This was with the respect of tv news, but in newsapers or magazines people read whatever is being given. Media also conducts various shows, talk shows to increase their trp value. The advt. shown in between is the powerful tool to change our ability to look towards the product.
Anybody's perception depends upon the level of intelligence, interest, emotional background etc.The person in which he/she is raised affects a lot on perception. A middle class person may view certain car as over luxurious, over priced, non economical or unseful in any ways. Whereas a rich person woud think of buying it for comfort or status . This again changes from person to peson;s attitude.
Yes, it can really affect. For that adverstising is the powerful tool. For eg, take case of Mac D burgers, in europe they are mostly made of beef, bit in India, cow is considered very religious hence there would be a rage if they start seeling beef burgers. Hence they have chicken with Indian spices in it. And also have veg burgers which makes people mould their perception towards fast food. Even the service provided is very friendly which again attitudes of customers.
Perceotion can tells the attitudes we hold were wrong, it can suggest to make changes in attitudes.Eg, earlier same sex marraige were not accepted in many religions, caste and families. But now due to much of awarness people have started thinking of it natural phenomena such opp sex. And many people now marry openly and not in secret. Hence there are many govt reforamation w.r.t same sex marraige
