In processing information people tend to pay more attention information that goes against what they believe than information that fits with what they believe. TRUE OR FALSE?
When people get any information that
goes against their belief, they pay more attention to that
information because of quick notice. It is human tendency that
anything which doesn’t go in their flow they stop for sometime and
think why it is not going with me. In short, we can say that
opposite information catch our attention very quickly, than those
which fit with what we believe.
Studies have shown that information that come up with emotional color catch our attention quickly. Information that goes against what we believe brings some emotion. So because of that emotion it pulls our attention quickly. For example- when a student enter in his classroom, where notice is sticked about examination result, there are many things available like chair, table, blackboard, books but his attention goes on only on that row of notice where his failure notice was presented. Because of emotional color it brought his eyes catch it easily and that’s why he paid more attention to that information. Means what goes against our belief we pay more attention to that information. We don’t believe that it going to be happen but that happens then we attend that information quickly. In above example the student hasn’t believed that his result will be poor, so he got emotional and pay more attention.
