1. How does SIV differ from HIV?
2. Dr. Hahn and her colleague, Dr. Gould, believe that the fact
that AIDS appeared as an epidemic in the 20th century and not
before is due to a combination of factors, such as more roads,
providing greater access to forested areas, urbanization,
prostitution, social disruption and other socio-behavioral changes.
Why would these factors lead to an epidemic?
3. Current event: What similarities or differences do you notice
with the current COVID-19 pandemic with the HIV/AIDS pandemic? Are
there any factors that you learned from this case study that you
can relate to the current viral epidemic?
The SIV is differ from HIV because of HIV (Human immuno virus is found in Human mostly ) But SIV is mostly found in non humans simians .HIV is a virus contain RNA and it transmitted through blood contact and iffect on cellular organization WBS (Destruction of WBCs).
Many factors responsible to HIV in century 20 th because of HIV is spread by infected human to healthy human by direct contact . behavioral changes leads to HIV due to some people not known about HIV .in community (Society ) people behaviours and life style increase chances of infection one place to another places with symptoms and rapid rate in multiplication of viruses hence it can pandemic and endemic .SIV in some monkey spread by contact with infected monkey.
In current events COVID -19 is a viral infection spread all over world because of Droplet (Coughing ) and contact with infected person .in cases of COVID 19 the viruses attack on respiratory system .infection rate in pandemic area is also depend on Nature of microorganisms hence COVID is high pandemic with Above factor. In cases Of HIV (Human immunodeficiency Virus is less pandemic with lot of differences because of HIV is spread in pandemic area by direct contact.
Example : blood transfusion,Insemination,by Razors etc.
