One of the most important international crimes is smuggling drugs across borders. Most of the countries are still fighting to prevent illegal drugs being smuggled into their countries. The important factor about the easily available drugs is that it increases crimes and makes the youngsters addicted to it, thus threatening the human resources in a country. Illegal drugs also play a major role in collapsing the economy as it prevents companies from operating effectively and the money is used for terrorist activities.

Globalization has facilitated free movement of labor, goods and capital. This has also brought lots of new facilities and technology to different countries. This has also increased more products moving across borders thus making the hiding of illegal drugs amidst other products. Sometimes, it enters a border without the knowledge of the officials in the customs and most of the times, smugglers bribe the officials and take the drugs inside. Most of the developing and underdeveloped countries have corrupt officials who help the smugglers move drugs in and out of their countries.

Governments need to screen the imported and exported products more strictly, they need to punish the corrupt officials swiftly, they need to identify frequent offenders who are involved in smuggling, destroy the drugs that are grown in different parts of the country and coordinate with other countries in fighting drugs. Governments should do it because it’s about its future generations, peaceful society and economic growth.
