Discuss the relationship between globalization and environment. How has globalization impacted indigenous peoples? What are anthropologists doing today to address environmental issues?
Globalization and the environment have an inverse or negative relationship between them. Globalization leads to an increase in deforestation and environmental pollution. Globalization is not good for the environment as due to this there is an increase in the pollution and a decrease in the amount of forest that is not beneficial for human beings as well as for the eco-system.
Globalization impacted indigenous people both positively and
negatively. Positively in the sense that due to globalization
indigenous people can go anywhere (road, rail, airline) and get to
know anything (internet, telephones). With the help of
globalization, other people can also know about the indigenous
people.
Negative in the sense that globalization is affecting the culture
and tradition of the indigenous people. Due to the influence of
globalization, many indigenous people are liking western or modern
culture or fashion.
Anthropologists are known as scientists who study human
behavior, biological system, and environmental problems and tries
to solve those problems properly.
Environmental anthropologists are studying environmental problems
and trying to get a proper or sustainable solution for those
problems and issues. Anthropologists are doing many goods things
for both humans and the environment (eco-system).
