Please explain in detail what is:
Transport-Facilitated diffusion and how is it involved in the uptake of drugs and how they work on a cell to create an effect on the body.
Facilitated diffusion;
It is the process in which transports of particles in and out of the cell membrane.It occurs according to concentration gradient so energy is not required.They use carrieer proteins for the transport of ions and particles across the the membrane.These carrier proteins that form protein channel and bind only to specific molecules such as particular sugar or amino acid.Once the molecule binds to the carrier protein,this protein facilities the diffusion process by changing shape and moving the molecule down its concentration gradient through the membrane into the cell.it is facilitated only when carrier proteins are present.it similar to simpley diffusion.
Drugs in general are hydrophilic and they require specialized transport proteins to facilitate for the cells.
Drug absorption depends on its physicochemical properties,it's formulations and also route of administration.
Drugs that occur through Facilated diffusion attach the Carrier protein .when drug attaches to the carrier protein it undergoes shape and forms it is transported to the target ogan their forms complex and undgeos necessary effect.
