what is actin microfilament and what it is function?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Actin is micro filament,it is present in the cytoskeleton(muscle).

Actin consists of troponin and tropomyosin which are involved in muscle contraction.

This actin is composed of polymers and are modified to interact with other proteins.

In muscle contraction it works with another protein called myosin.

Functions

1. It helps in muscle contraction

2. Changes in cell shape during contraction.

3. Amoeboid movement

4. Provides mechanical stability
