Expert Solution

Dysbiosis, also referred to as dysbacteriosis is a term for imbalance of microbial equilibrium inside the body. Dysbiosis typically occurs when the balance between the different microbiota inside our body gets disturbed. This is most commonly reported in gastrointestinal tract, while this imbalance might also take place in case of skin flora & vaginal flora too.

Dysbiosis can result into loss of beneficial organisms to excessive growth of potentially harmful organisms & loss of microbiota.

Diseases believed to be caused by dysbiosis:

Dysbiosis of the gut microbiotais associated with a large number of intestinal disorders which include Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease, coeliac disease.

Some extra intestinal disorders caused by dysbiosis include allergy, asthma, metabolic syndrome, obesity.

In addition to this type 2 diabetes (T2D) have also been found to be associated with this condition.

Causes of dysbiosis:

These factors can contribute to dydbiosis which includes:

  • Exposure to harmful bacteria .
  • High levels of stress leading to a weakened immune system.
  • High intake of alcoholic beverages.
  • Poor dental hygiene.
  • Dietary change incuding high amount of sugar derivatives in the diet.
  • Accidental consumption of pesticides & chemical fertilisers through vegetables and fruits.
  • Inappropriate antibiotic exposure.

Overview Most disorders or diseases are caused by a combination of environmental and genetic factors. However, some are caused solely by genetics. We are going to examine the latter in this discussion. You will be given the choice of a genetic disorder to research and write about, and then you will draw some conclusions based on this information. You should spend approximately 3 hours on this assignment. Instructions Choose one genetic disorder from the following list: Sickle cell anemia...
