Compare the health systems of various countries.
When looking at the United States compared to other countries, we come in last place for performance even though the United States is the most expensive. Health care in the United States is 50% more expensive then the next highest country. The United States ranked last in efficiency, equity, cost related problems, and healthy lives. Where countries like Sweden, United Kingdom, Switzerland, and France were the best. The biggest way that the United States differs from other countries is that the United States does not have universal health insurance coverage which is health care and financial protection to every citizen in the country. There are less physicians per person in the Unites States then in most other countries. “In 2010, the U.S. had 2.4 practicing physicians per 1,000 people which is well below the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) average of 3.1” . The same with average hospital beds was 2.6 for every thousand people where the OECD average is 3.4. The United States does lead in research for Cancer and health care treatments. The American system is more likely to develop new advances and research first so other countries can then take advantage.
