How could they support disease management programs and improve population health?
Health information is a system that stores, capture, manages, and transmit health information within the health sector or from one organization to another organization. HIS is the collection, processing, sharing of information in the decision-making process and also for research purpose. It provides data required for health statistics. HIS also play a major role in providing efficient timely care and gives information decision-making process. Healthcare professionals collect routine data from the patients in order to improve the health of the patient and to improve the quality.
Patient's health record is considered as a primary data source. The secondary data source is the collection of data from the health record for the purposes of registries or databases. EX: birth data, cardiac register data. Healthcare data must be much protected and confidential in the future. The quality has been improved in the managing of the data. The data security must be improved in sharing of data to the private sectors. HIPPA will regulate the privacy policy in protection of data. HIPPA gives rights to consumers to protect the health information and to right to change of health information. HIS improve the public health monitoring and provides the clinical data and the necessary resources needed for the research purposes. The clinical data must be accurate, valid, and timely manner. Overall, the Health information improves the Professional Standards and Practice. It increases quality safety care and reduces healthcare costs.

Through sharing of information, the providers can easily access information and thereby provide better patient care in the community. Chronic management tools help to monitor the patient outcome and to make clinical decisions. It also alerts, reminds, and prescribes of drugs and documents of health status in managing of diseases and improves the overall health of the population. Telehealth helps to clear the doubts of the patient through emails and voice messages.
