Write a 500 word personal narrative essay describing what you hope to gain from your college experience. You may include details about what you have learned and what you hope to learn in college that will help you to achieve your career goals.
College life, in my point of view is one of the best and one of the most important periods of one’s life. I have joined the college with lots of hope and expectations to not only develop my skills and knowledge but also build my attitude and personality. I hope to get more friends and faculty members who will be supportive to my overall development. All the other programmes other than academic, such as co-curricular and extra-curricular will also help me improve my confidence level and help me build a holistic perspective where I’ll accept people from different backgrounds and cultures. College life will help me explore my preferences and achieve my identity thus helping me to prepare for my future personal and professional life.
College is a place where, I think people shape their future in the college preparing seriously without getting involved in any other activities that would stop them from achieving it. So I hope to have a college life where I will not get into more entertainment part thus forgetting my goals. I expect a supportive environment that is free of bullying and supportive in terms of infrastructure and manpower.
I have learnt one of the best lessons in my life that everyone is equal in this world and given an opportunity, anyone will excel in whatever they do. I have got many friends who help me develop my personality this far. I used to shy away from group of people but now I’m able to be in a group without any discomfort and share things openly with them which otherwise I wouldn’t.
I have learnt to work on time because completing certain things on time will have more impact than one which missed all the deadlines. So, I have developed a weekly, monthly and yearly plan that would help me stick to the plan without wasting any time. I have also learnt to prioritize tasks that have to be done first, so, I don’t have any confusion. One of the other things I learnt here is that people who are occupied with programmes are more happier than people who live their life with excuses. So, I pack myself with programmes and I’m happy about completing them.
I hope to improve my interpersonal relationship and interpersonal communication which I think are two of the most important skills that I should learn. When I step into my career, I may need to communicate and get things done and I may need to report the progress of the works that are allotted to me. I also understand that I need to work along with people in order to accomplish group tasks. So, I keep moving along with my group members without missing the targets. I would like to improve my presentation and writing skills that would help me when I get into my career as I will be presenting things to my superiors and write many official communications. I also would like to develop my stage inhibition, so that I’ll be more bold in speaking and presenting my views to a bigger audience.
