College days are one of the most memorable days of one's life. Everybody leads a routined and strict life in school days. Though school life also brings some of the memorable events, college days are somewhat different. On ome hand there is a sense of freedom after strict life in school and on the other hand there is preparation for career starts from the very days. I read in a missionary colleged named Serampore college. The day I went to my college to submit application form, was the very day I decided that I should study in this college. The college is situated beside river Ganges and it has a well decorated and beautiful campuss.

I am doing Bsc honours in Economics in Serampore college. I certainly have some career goals and ambition in my life. But the first thing I learned from my college is the versatility of its students. As it is  a missionary college many students from all over the world come to study in it. Hence I have learnt how to communicate with studewnts from other countries, became aware of their culture. In schhol I brought up with my friend from very premitive stage. hence our thinking pattern, working used to be similar. But in college I felt like I came into an ocean. Here I met meny friends who had different thinking pattern, they take decisions on different base of thinking, they act differently. This was a great experience I had from first few days. Later when I made some friends in my college, I started hanging out with them, went for movies, played music etc. I learnt to distinguish between the right and the wrong. As I hanged out with many friends, I started to understand who is good and who is not so.

Now coming to the future career planning, one needs to be disciplined and learn his lessons from heart to prosper in life and have a good career. My college helps me in this by teaching me to lead a disciplined life among the freedom. In my college, students should mandatorily attend at least 75 percent of the classes in a year to be eligible to sit for final examination except the crieteria of marks in test examination. The quality of study offered by Serampore college is world class. The teachers are prone to teach and they happily help us in solving problems whenever we approach them.

Another good lesson I have learnt from my college is importance of being punctual. If a student is more than five minutes late to attend any class, he or she is not allowed to enter into the class. Our teachers are very punctual and they teach us to be punctual too.

We are human beings and we should help others who are in need. I have learnt the practicality of this lesson in my college. Every month an event is organised by our college authority in which we distribute food, clothing to the needy people of the society. In this way we learn to contribute for the social welfare.

I expect to have a good career like others. In order to get into a lucrative job, one needs to be exposed to the larget industry. And this can be done by organising seminars, campuss recruitment, market based training etc. Being a academy based institution Serampore college focuses on making students ready for further study. But I expect the college authority should think of the students who wish to step into job market after graduation. I readily expect from my college to provide opportunity to the students to be accustomed with the job market and its requirements. It should organize training programs in different companies and start campuss recruitement for market based subjects like Economics.
