Why must the adaptive immune system develop a capacity to discriminate between foreign antigens and host antigens?
At first we have to know what is antigen and what is foreign antigen and host antigen.
In immunology, an antigen is a toxin or other hermful foreign substance that triggers an immune response, when those foreign antigens enters in the body. then our body produce antibodies as immune response.
Foreign antigens are foreign molecules comes from out side as a toxic, virus, bacteria etc.
Host antigen is present within our cell as normal molecules.
Thus, our adaptive immune system develop a capacity to discriminate between foreign antigens and host antigens for correct recognition of toxic foreign molecules. Therefore body can produce specific antibodies against those pathogens and protect us. Because of the host antigens are normal self antigen, so these are not have to destroy. For accurate immune response adaptive immune system develop a capacity to discriminate between foreign antigens and host antigens.
