State the three methods of hypothesis test and explain on how you can use them to test a given claim. Please explain in detail.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Three methods of hypothesis tests are:

1). Normal distribution method. -. This method is used to estimate the parameters of population with the help of analysis of sample distribution. We make null and alternative hypothesis. With the help of null and alternate hypothesis we conclude our result about variations of means or other parameters. It will be more clear from following example.

2.)Chi square test -. This test is used to compare the expected value of population or sample with observed value of parameters of population or sample . It will be more clear in following ways.

3.) T test statistics - This test is just like the normal distribution . It is used when the sample size is small i.e less than 30. It will be more clear in following ways.

STATE: The design of controls and instruments affects how easily people can use them. A student project investigated this effect by asking 2525 right‑handed students to turn a knob (with their right hands) that moved an indicator by screw action. There were two identical instruments, one with a right‑hand thread (the knob turns clockwise) and the other with a left‑hand thread (the knob turns counterclockwise). Each of the 2525 students used both instruments. The table gives the times in seconds...

Suppose that you wish to use a hypothesis test to test a claim made by a juice bottling company regarding the mean amount of juice in its 16 oz bottles. The company claims that the mean amount of juice in its 16 oz bottles is 16 oz, while you suspect the true mean is lower. You obtain n = 15 bottles of juice and find a sample mean of x¯ = 15.42 oz with a sample standard deviation of s...
