Explain the 4 types of crowdsourcing, how can you use each of them.

How would you use social media and crowdsourcing to promote the Orlando Magic Basketball Team that is declining in attendance.

The fundamental of crowdsourcing is basically obtaining work, project help or opinion from a wide variety of people who are available on the Internet and are ready to provide their ideas. These people can be referred to as freelancers or volunteers.

The various types of crowdsourcing are:

• Crowd Wisdom:
  • Sharing the issue and problem on the Internet or open platform and garnering solutions from the crowd
  • Example: Idea Jams
• Crowd Creation
  • Asking volunteers to develop or create an entity like a film or program
  • Example: Nasa’s Clickworkers, Linux
• Crowd Voting
  • The business takes the judgement and opinion poll of the community into consideration
  • The judgement can be taken through various platforms like newspaper poll, social media survey, newsletters, etc.
• Crowd Funding
  • Volunteers funding project of an individual just to encourage his interventions
  • Example: Kiva

Social media can be used to create awareness about the various events being conducted at Orlando Magic Basketball matches. Also the tool of Crowd Wisdom can be capitalized upon to get innovative and out of the box ideas to solve the declining attendance problem.
