Describe and explain the relationship between the advances in technology and such goals as reduced human workloads, environmental and resource stresses, free time, and contentment
The advances in technology reduced human workloads, environmental and resource stresses, free time, and contentment. For employees with the ability to grasp new technology, it can speed up their productivity. New technologies, such as instant messaging, can help employees communicate in a more efficient manner and get answers and help immediately.
Technology that helps automate processes will help reduce the workload for employees, freeing them up to work on other projects and assignments. New computer programs and software packages can help collect and analyze data that would normally go unused or would take employees a good deal of time to extrapolate. New technology can also be used to help improve work processes and in turn increase productivity for both the employee and the business.
Extension of automation technology use in working environments will continue well into the modern era. In most cases, the criteria for applying automation to new systems have been technological feasibility and cost. Moreover, it seems to have an impact on individual’s resources as moderators of stress. As literature reveals, the role of technology as a stressor is not only directly emerge from the actual use of automation technology, but also it appears indirectly from changes in demands of the task and working environment. Enabling faster processing and transformation of information, modern technology exposes employees now a day also by an ever increasing flow of information.
Leisure-time activities and leisure-time mobility have developed a wider range through the use of technology.Technologies that had originally been developed for commercial, scientific or military purposes have been (and will continue to be) developed for leisure-time use. New technologies often have a phase of leisure-time use in which they are optimised. Other technological changes are specifically aimed at the leisure sector.Technological devices serve as prototypes for models that are adapted for or used during leisure time.
Technology and consumerism, have not brought greater happiness to humanity, as most people had previously believed they would. We see that traditional economic development has actually made us poorer and un-happier. Indeed, history has shown us (very forcefully) that the pursuit of traditional economic development is actually the pursuit of un-happiness.
